MEANING:
This name derives from the Ancient Greek “Serapion (Σεραπίων)”, meaning “bright, solar”. Serapion of Alexandria was a physician who lived in the 3rd century BC. Several saints are associated with this name, such as Serapion, Patriarch of Antioch (191–211). He is known primarily through his theological writings. Serapion of Alexandria was an Egyptian Christian martyr, who was killed during anti-Christian riots which broke out in Alexandria, Egypt.
