In turn, derives from the Ancient Greek “Gordías (Γορδίας) Górdios (Γόρδιος).” 1) Gordian I was Roman Emperor for one month with his son Gordian II in 238, the Year of the Six Emperors. 2) Gordian III was Roman Emperor from 238 AD to 244 AD. At the age of 13, he became the youngest sole legal Roman emperor throughout the existence of the united Roman Empire. 3) The feast day is traditionally celebrated on May 10 in memory of St. Gordian, a martyr in Rome.
