In turn, the name means “pledged warrior.” 1) Giselher is a king of Burgundy in the Nibelungenlied, brother to kings Gunther and Gernot. 2) Giselher († 1004) was the second Archbishop of Magdeburg, succeeding Saint Adalbert, from 981 until his death in 1004. The name-day is celebrated on November 1, the Feast of All Saints.
