Name Root:
elus > ELISEDD
Meaning:*
Apparently, the name comes from the Welsh word “elus,” meaning “kind.” 1) Elisedd (~810–†) is remembered as one of the rulers of South Wales hunted by King Anarawd of Gwynedd and the sons of Rhodri Mawr “the Great,” so he was forced to submit to the English king Alfred the Great to save himself. 2) Elisedd ap Gwylog, also known as Elise († ~755), reigned over the Powys (in East Wales). Little is known of this descendant of Brochwel Ysgithrog. He seems to have reclaimed the territory of the Powys, which had been invaded by the Angels.
