The theories include: 1) Probably from an Old Slavic exclamation expressing joy or sorrow. 1) Davor (Rugiewit, Rugiwit, or Rujevit) was a Slavic deity. In a questionable interpretation, he is seen by some as a local personification of the all-Slavic god of war Perun worshipped in all areas where the Slavic mythology was present. 2) Davor is a municipality in Brod-Posavina County, next to the city of Slavonski Brod, Croatia. The feast day is traditionally celebrated on November 11.
