Her character lies at the heart of a dispute between Achilles and Agamemnon that drives the plot of Homer’s Iliad. She was the daughter of Briseus, the wife of King Mynes of Lyrnessus, and lover of Achilles. 2) In Greek mythology, Briseus (Βρισεύς) or Brises (Βρίσης) is the father of Briseis. 3) Brizo is an ancient Greek goddess who was known as the protector of mariners, sailors, and fishers. She was worshipped primarily by the women of Delos, who set out food offerings in small boats. Brizo was also known as a prophet specializing in the interpretation of dreams.
