Meaning:*
This name derives from the Ancient Greek “astḗr (ᾰ̓στήρ) Astraîos (Ἀστραῖος).” Astraios was the Titan god of the stars and planets and the art of astrology. By Eos (the Dawn), he was the father of the seasonal Winds and the Stars. The rising of certain constellations heralded the arrival of these Winds. Astraios also had a daughter named Astraia, the goddess of the constellation Virgo. Astraios’ name appears with those of other Titans in lists of Gigantes who made war on the gods, suggesting he played some role in the closely related Gigantomakhia and Titanomakhia Wars.
