This name derives from the Ancient Greek “ánthos (ἄνθος) Antheía (Ἀνθεία),” meaning “flower, blossom.” Antheia was one of the Charites, or Graces, of Greek mythology and was the Goddess of Vegetation, Lowlands, Marshlands, Gardens, Blossoms, the Budding Earth, and Human Love. This name was also an epithet of the Greek goddess Hera. Antheia is also the Greek name of Ancient Sozopolis in modern Bulgaria, and another Antheia was a village that was later adopted into Patras around 1000 BC.
