Anatoliy

This name derives from the Ancient Greek “anatolḗ (ἀνατολή) Anatólios (Ἀνατόλιος),” composed of two elements: “aná (ἀνά)” (up) plus “téllō (τέλλω) télos (τέλος)” (completion, accomplishment, perfection, rise, end). In turn, the name means “sunrise, pointing to the east, eastern, rising above the horizon.” Saint Anatolius was a 3rd-century saint from Alexandria in Egypt. Anatoly was one of the five most popular names for baby boys born in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 2004.
