Damone

This name derives from the Ancient Greek “damnáō (δαμνάω) damázō (δαμάζω), which in turn derives from the Sanskrit “dāmyati,” meaning “tame, overpower, subdue, conquer, vanquish.” Damon, son of Damonides, was a Greek musicologist of the 5th-century. He is credited as a teacher and advisor of Pericles. Damon’s expertise was supposed to be musicology, although some believed this was a cover for a broader influence on Pericles’ politics. In Greek mythology, the legend of Damon and Pythias (or Phintias) symbolizes trust and loyalty in a real friendship.
