alkḗ mêdos > Alkiméde
Meaning:*
This name derives from the Ancient Greek “Alkiméde (Ἀλκιμέδη),” composed of two elements: “alkḗ (ἀλκή)” (valiant, strength, power, bravery, prowess, force, defense, guard) plus “mêdos ‎(μῆδος)” (counsel, plan, art, prudence, cunning). In turn, the name means “prudent and wise in defending.” In Greek mythology, Alcimede was one of the matrilineal Minyan daughters, the daughter of Clymene, Minyas’ daughter. She was the mother of Jason by Aeson, whom she met in the caves below Iolcus in Thessaly, a chthonic lair where the rightful king Aeson had been imprisoned by his evil half-brother Pelias.
