NAME OF THE DAY
This name derives from Old High German name “Volkbert”, composed of two elements: “*fulką” (people, nation, race) plus “*berhtaz” (light, bright, clear, shining one), meaning “shining people, bright people”. Fulbert of Chartres was the Bishop of Chartres from 1006 to 1028 and a teacher at the Cathedral school there. He was responsible for the advancement of the Nativity of the Virgin's feast day on September 8 and for one of the many reconstructions of the Cathedral of Chartres. The feast day is traditionally celebrated on April 10.
